Oscar Snubs: 16 Omissions That Made Your Jaw Drop
by EW
16. Leonardo DiCaprio for Revolutionary Road

I have to say that I am extremely disappointed in the omission of Leonardo DiCaprio for Revolutionary Road. He is truly a talented actor and deserves much more recognition than he ever receives. I honestly thought that this might be his year.
15. Sally Hawkins for Happy-Go-Lucky

I am shocked that Sally Hawkins did not get nominated for Happy-Go-Lucky. It has to be one of the best comedic performances I have seen in quite a long time. Shame on the Academy!
14. Dev Patel for SM

Dev Patel was snubbed, hands down. It would have been so nice to see such a fresh — and truly grateful and honored — face at the Oscars this year.
13. Bruce Springsteen for his song (The Wrestler)

Love The Dark Knight, but pretty much expected it would be screwed, but Bruce Springsteen got the biggest snub. How in the world did his song "The Wrestler" not get a nomination? It was that song that made me know I had to see that movie!
12. Australia for Best Cinematography

I must admit I was shocked by some of the nominations today. Normally you expect a couple of surprises, but this year they've cranked it up! How on earth did Australia get snubbed for Best Cinematography?! I can't think of one better film in that department!
11. The Dark Knight (NO Best Picture, Best Director or Best Screenplay)

It's a travesty that The Dark Knight didn't receive either a Best Picture, Best Director, or Best Screenplay nod. It seems the Academy voters tried to make up for it by giving the movie a ton of technical awards — otherwise known as "the awards nobody cares about."
10. Woody Allen for Vicky Cristina Barcelona screenplay

Woody Allen was snubbed for his Vicky Cristina Barcelona screenplay
9. Michael Sheen for Frost/Nixon

Michael Sheen in Frost/Nixon — Frank Langella was great and deserves the nomination, but so was Sheen. It's criminal, I tell ya, criminal!
8. Kristin Scott Thomas for I've Loved You So Long

It's rather horrifying that the performance by Kristin Scott Thomas in I've Loved You So Long gets overlooked in favor of heinous, trashy overacting by the likes of Angelina Jolie. Most Academy voters mistake histrionics for actual acting, especially when it comes to female roles.
7. Clint Eastwood for Gran Torino

WTH?! No noms for Gran Torino?! At the very least, I thought it would get noms for Best Actor and Best Original Screenplay. Clint Eastwood was robbed this year.
6. Jenny Lumet for Rachel Getting Married script

Jenny Lumet's script for Rachel Getting Married was unjustly overlooked...
5. Christopher Nolan for The Dark Knight

Say what you will about the movie's potential for Best Picture, but Nolan's achievement in elevating the comic-book movie should have been recognized.
4. Cloverfield for visual effects

I think Cloverfield got snubbed in the visual effects categories. They did a lot more with a lot less.
3. WALL-E for the Best Picture

I don't understand how a film that was one of the best reviewed of the year, was named the best film of the year by many critics, was snubbed from the Best Picture race. WALL-E should have been nominated.
2. In Bruges (Best Actor(s), Director)

In Bruges: acting nods, directing nods...anything? Oh wait, look, a nod for screenplay. Great. Thanks.
1. Che

The biggest crime is the distinct lack of Che anywhere.
